Alberta-based Some Other Solutions is a crisis prevention society. For more than 34 years now, SOS has been providing professional counselling and mentoring programs for children, youth, and families in northern Alberta. It also runs a 24/7 crisis line.

Tracey says Peninsula’s support during the pandemic has been exceptionally helpful.   “After any new government announcement, you get an email from Peninsula that clearly outlines any of the new requirements or provisions that came into force,” she explains. “So, if you missed the news, there is always the follow-up from Peninsula outlining the new changes.”  It can be hard to follow the ever-changing COVID-19 public health restrictions. “Peninsula was able to confirm whether we were able to open a couple of times,” says Tracey, “and clarify whether we were at the green level of reopening or at the red. It is convenient that we can phone them and ask them those questions,” she says.

The sprawling playground at Gingerbread Preschool and Daycare is alive with the chatter of toddlers. Under the watchful eye of their teachers, tiny drivers are steering their toy cars and bikes on the pathway. Spades are at work in the sandbox and buckets are filling up fast. Since the facility reopened in June, the two in-house goats are back to getting their daily dose of pats and hugs.
