Finding a hair stylist who understands the specific needs and care your hair requires may take time. But at The Stylist & Company, that level of professional expertise is a given.

The staff at this beauty salon in Aurora, Ontario, are dedicated to ensuring their clients leave with hair looking healthy and glorious. The Stylist & Company, which opened shop in 2016, is also committed to protecting the environment and recycles and repurposes 95% of its beauty waste.

The Stylist & Company became a Peninsula client in fall 2018.

“What I appreciate most from Peninsula is the peace of mind I experience as a business owner,” says Cassandra Pardetti.

Cassandra says not having an HR or business background (prior to opening her business) made her feel vulnerable. “It was all just self-made employment contracts and policies that I had come up with. I had no protection other than the liability insurance on the property,” she says.

Signing up for Peninsula’s HR and health & safety services has not only provided her with airtight work contracts, policies, and documentation, but also freed up her time to focus on her business.

“I can focus more on doing my job. I feel protected because Peninsula has developed my HR, OHS policies, procedures, employment contracts, as well as [taken care of] my health and safety inspections. I am protected as a business owner,” says Cassandra, who manages five full-time employees and three independent contractors.

Health and safety is a big thing for businesses right now going through the pandemic and the heightened increase in health and safety protocols,” says Cassandra.

“So having someone being able to regulate that and provide us with all the updated information on what’s been coming about is amazing. Especially, when it comes to the salon industry… probably with every other industry as well,” she says.

The Peninsula Service

Cassandra says the 24/7 advice line is one of the highlights of the Peninsula service for her.

“I can literally call 24 hours a day. If I have a question, it’s very punctual. I’ll have an answer. I’ll have documents sent to me within a few minutes of speaking to a representative. So, it is very on point when it comes to receiving information,” she says.

“Another highlight is the health and safety aspect because it is in an industry [personal care] where that is highly scrutinized. Especially now given the circumstances,” says Cassandra.

“I am very happy with Peninsula’s services and would 100% recommend Peninsula to other businesses. It puts my mind at ease knowing that I have support to cover areas that I don’t have much knowledge of. Peninsula allows me to focus more on my clients and other business needs,” says Cassandra.
