Be prepared for workplace inspections

We’ll prepare your business for workplace inspections should they occur. To do so, you must be aware of the bodies responsible for health & safety in your province.

Health & safety bodies such as:

  • The Ministry of Labour (or your provinces equivalent)
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
  • Workplace insurance boards (i.e. Ontario’s WSIB, WorkSafe BC and Workplace NL)
  • Health and safety associations

We’ll also ensure you comply with your province’s health and safety legislation.

Examples include:

  • Ontario: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • British Columbia: Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR)
  • Manitoba: Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulation

Our health and safety services help ensure your health and safety program is up to provincial standards. Do you know whether you need a health and safety committee or a health and safety rep? You likely need at least one. We’ll conduct an on-site inspection of your workplace and a risk assessment to identify risks you need to address. On top of this, we will provide you with airtight health and safety documentation to ensure compliance. And our 24-hour health and safety advice line are always available to provide expert health and safety support.

A health and safety inspection is a very real possibility. Some are scheduled, and some are complete surprises. Any violations found throughout can result in fines or penalties you don’t want. So ensure that you’re compliant to stay protected when the time comes. We can help with that with our unmatched health and safety services.

Frequenty asked questions about occupational health and safety

01
Why is workplace safety important?

Workplace safety ensures the health & safety of all within an organization. As an employer, you have a responsibility to prevent workplace injury and sickness. That obligation is regulated and enforced through OHS bodies and legislation in your province. Failure to comply can result in penalties, fines, and a stop-work order from a Ministry of Labour inspector.

02
How do you maintain safety at work?

Safety at work can be maintained by following the guidelines set out by the health & safety authority in your province. Establishing an effective health & safety program that features either a health and safety committee or representative will help in cultivating a safe workplace.

03
What is OHSA in Canada?

Each province in Canada has its own legislation that sets the standard, and the law, regarding health & safety (i.e. The Occupational Health and Safety Act in Ontario).

04
What is the purpose of a safety poster?

Health and safety posters outline the legal rights and responsibilities of workers, supervisors, and employers in your workplace.  You are required to display the poster in a location within your workplace that is easily accessible and viewable to all.

05
What does a health and safety consultant do?

Health & safety consulting provides health and safety services and support to businesses. Health and safety consultants work to educate employers on health and safety and help to reduce risk in workplaces through their recommendations.
